The operating model is a relevant decision for every new Deepwater project. Funding of the FPSO construction, supply chain management, offshore crew, and onshore support resourcing, design, and specification are key value drivers to deciding the operating model. How do we extract more value from each operating model delivered, and in which scenarios?
In a global scenario with nations committing to reduce gas emissions, what is the investors’ perspective on financing FPSOs for oil & gas projects? What new requirements will come in the contracts and technical specs? What can make each operating model more attractive? Would both models harmonically integrate a portfolio? What are the variances of each operating model? What is the preferred model in a scenario of more prescriptive technical requirements? Would design and specification flexibility influences the decision for owned or leased?

This session addresses the future FPSO business in the Energy Transient era.
The session describes and addresses technologies, design, and operational solutions to reduce GHG emissions and achieve Net Zero carbon emissions for the sustainability of FPSO facilities.
The session will present technologies currently available to help reduce emissions and technologies under development.
Topics of interest include electrification, carbon capture and storage, renewable energy sources, power import from offshore hubs or shore and other new technologies under development. Already available technologies – the low-hanging fruit solutions – will also be discussed (for instance, closed flare and other systems).
